Best Practices for Insurance Brokers: Best practices can be defined as methods or regular actions that you as a business owner take on a regular basis that supports, grows, and nurtures your book of business.

Best practices can encompass technology used, routines that are implemented on a daily, monthly, quarterly or annual basis, specific call or referral scripts, customer service methods, lead generation, marketing, sales presentations and follow-up, product knowledge, and ongoing training and personal development.

I live in Amador and own an agency in Cameron Park serving the El Dorado, Amador, and Calaveras counties.  I started a scratch agency in 2008 and built it into a large agency and sold in 2014 to sign a contract with Farmers to recruit, develop, and open agencies in Sacramento, PLacer, El Doraod, Nevada, Amador, and Calaveras county and left that to buy a 35 year old well established agency in 2022.  We offer home, auto, umbrella, commercial, health, and we also are a Financial Service agency partners with Farmers Financial solution for retirement planning.

Michael Saab has been in the insurance industry since 1995 and joined PWA Insurance Services in 1998.  In 2017, Michael became a partner in the firm.  He received his Bachelor Degree in Communication from California State University, Chico, and has conducted several seminars and webinars on COBRA, Benefits Management, HIPAA and Health Care Reform for PWA and local SHRM chapters.  He has received his NAHU Certification in Account Based Health Plans, Self-Funding and the Processional, and achieved his Academy of Healthcare Management designation in 2012 from AHIP.   He is a past chair and member of UC Davis Health System’s Community Advisory Board, served on the Board of Directors for Crossroads Diversified Services from 2013 to 2020, SAHU Program Chair from 2020 to 2022, a member of Kiwanis for 14 years and on the Board of Directors for the Land Park Soccer Club from 2012 to 2022. He’s very passionate about the industry and challenges his clients to be more proactive in how they address healthcare costs for their employees.
