How long have you been a member of SAHU? I've been a member of SAHU since 2020 and previous to that held membership with other bay area chapters. Why did you join SAHU and what do you love most about SAHU? I joined SAHU because I appreciate the sense of community & belonging. We all desire to belong, to be part of something bigger than ourselves. In my humble opinion, our SAHU commonality is centered on gaining acceptance, attention and support from each other within our sphere but more importantly, we are all invested in extending that support to our greater community, all members of our industry. I find success when I experience an initial acquaintance, and over the course of community, create a meaningful friendship. What’s one skill you’d like to develop or sharpen this year within SAHU? Listening skills. It's better to be interested than interesting. Seek first to understand, instead of being understood. Honing in on this critical skill has the potential to create a powerful environment of trust, value and confidence. What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received? Always believe in yourself. When you’re not working, how do you enjoy spending your time? I enjoy the great outdoors, mountains & ocean. It's the natural RESET button for me. Hikes, walks, swims, picnics. I enjoy exploring our national/regional parks and feel soo fortunate to have many beautiful options in our state to explore. |
