The NABIP Capitol Conference 2025, themed Future Forward, brought together hundreds of agents and brokers dedicated to expanding Americans' access to affordable, high-quality health insurance. The event featured impactful sessions, leadership insights, and opportunities to discuss the evolving healthcare landscape.
The conference began with NABIP President Alycia Riedl delivering opening remarks at the Leadership Forum, designed to inspire emerging leaders with valuable tools, leadership journeys, and peer networking. Key sessions included Kevin Mayeux, CEO of NAIFA, offering strategic guidance on navigating regulatory changes and NABIP’s Vice President of Government Affairs Michael Andel and Legislative Council Chair Jennifer Spiegel Berman showcasing the organization's recent legislative successes.
Employer-sponsored healthcare took center stage as NABIP CEO Jessica Brooks Woods, James Gelfand of ERIC, and Shawn Gremminger from the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions discussed industry trends and challenges. Katy Johnson, President of the American Benefits Council, emphasized the importance of preserving tax incentives for employer-provided health coverage.
The conference also highlighted the essential role of brokers through a moving story of a Medicare beneficiary diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, whose broker's dedication ensured they had the best coverage during a difficult time. Additionally, Paul Roberts from Word & Brown celebrated another California win, showcasing the state’s continued advocacy achievements.
