Why did you join SAHU? I joined NAHU and SAHU in March of 2020. During this time I was looking to expand my education and product knowledge as an independent agent. I found that and more through the educational resources within NAHU and SAHU. I love to learn and I'm motivated to learn more inside of my industry because it makes me a better resource for my clients and associates. Besides the great opportunities to network and build relationships within my field I greatly appreciate the educational opportunities that SAHU provides.
What’s one skill you’d like to develop or sharpen this year within SAHU?
I am always looking for innovative ways to improve my business processes- to work smarter.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
Be authentic and build your brand to reflect who you really are.
What’s your biggest (or one of your biggest) professional accomplishment(s) so far?
I started my business from absolute zero in 2008 and it has grown to where I first qualified for the LPRT in 2020. My business grew 100% from referrals. This was a definite landmark accomplishment for me. My business did not explode overnight, it took years of work but I'm proud that I kept showing up and that I didn't give up.
When you’re not working, how do you enjoy spending your time?
When I'm not working I love figure skating. Figure skating is very challenging especially to learn as an adult. As strange as it may sound there is an entire adult community that loves and engages in this sport. We have competitions that take place all over the world. I personally love the shows and local exhibitions. My journey with skating has been an incredible outlet for my creative side and has led to many lasting friendships. The shows that I have been a part of are some of my sweetest memories. This last year I passed my adult Silver Moves In the Field test which was a very challenging test to master. Now I am working on my Gold moves in the Field and my Silver freeskate. Skating is an alternative universe where I can discover exactly what I am capable of aside from the business world.

Thank you for your support of the children served by River Oak with your generous donation of toys and gifts for this year’s Santa’s Workshop. Your donation is appreciated by not only the children and families but by the clinical team as they are able to provide support and resources for their families. We helped more than 200 families and 1000 childrens this year.
We are so fortunate to have such great community partners that allow us to create these memories and moments for our children and youth. It is partnerships like this that help River Oak further our work and create such wonderful community stewardship.
Despite the challenges our families have to overcome, we strive to provide them with comfort and resources. I can assure you that the impact of your gift will be felt by many children and families in need. The knowledge that you truly have made a difference should bring you a tremendous sense of satisfaction and pride. Thank you again for being such an integral part of improving the lives of the children, youth, and families we serve.
Sincerely,
Laurie Clothier
