Why did you join and what do you love most about SAHU?
I joined SAHU to connect with other insurance industry professionals, attend professional development / networking events and have fun at the social events with like-minded individuals. I love the close-knit community that SAHU provides and feel that we have a very special chapter here in Sacramento. I have made so many industry friends through SAHU and love the support and encouragement we provide to each other.
What’s one skill you’d like to develop or sharpen this year within SAHU?
I would like to sharpen my marketing skills as I navigate a new and exciting chapter in starting my own agency.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
To be yourself. In this relationship business, authenticity is the first building block in laying a foundation of trust and respect.
What’s your biggest (or one of your biggest) professional accomplishment(s) so far?
I finally tackled obtaining my CEBS designation after starting the process in 2008, taking a long break from job changes and growing a family, and then picking it back up in 2018. My newest, and I would say biggest, accomplishment is finding the courage to take a leap of faith and start my own business. The sky is the limit and I look forward to the future!
When you’re not working, how do you enjoy spending your time?
My favorite time is spent with my husband and two kids. We love going to the beach or lake and the kids are starting to participate in various sports, which are fun to watch. I have also become increasingly involved in giving back to the community by refereeing youth sports like basketball, lacrosse and volleyball.
